Our Story
SHM Next is a tech company founded in September 2018 and started operation in July 2019 as a spin-off fromThe Netherlands Organisation for Applied Scientific Research (TNO). We develop advanced wireless sensor systems for structural health monitoring (SHM) and predictive maintenance of (infra)structures. The company is located at YES! Delft, the incubator of TU Delft.
What do we do?
SHM NEXT provides a range of cutting-edge wireless technologies for health monitoring and digital twinning of steel and concrete structures. Our sensor systems are scalable and cost-effective, provide quantitative information about damage existence/location/severity, and offer exceptionally high sensitivity to small damage growth. Our technologies can be used in service with high resilience against operational and environmental noise.

Our solutions
The tailor-designed hardware-software architecture of our solutions enable optimum implementation of edge and cloud computation. Our solutions can be utilized in various application domains such as bridges, cranes, offshore platforms, wind-turbines, and airframes.
-
Our solutions are unique because they are:
- Quantitative (can identify existence, location, and size of defects)
- Decentralized (each sensor node can independently cover a large area around it)
- Scalable (can be straight-forwardly applied to large areas)
- Low CAPEX and OPEX
- Early warning messaging & automatic reporting
